Thirty-Party games can be often DIP-switched to work with different palettes (thus bypassing Nintendo's protection). To prevent piracy & unlicensed games, Nintendo has made a bunch of different PPUs: PPUs with different palettes, and PPUs with different Port 2000h/2001h/2002h. That (and the relative high price of the games) made it quite inviting to upgrade the cabinets with illegal copies of newer games, or with unlicensed third-party games. VS Games are consisting of sets of EPROMs without any special hardware (apart from custom cabinet front plates), the are no CIC lockout chips. This even tells you how to defeat this protection. So apparently there is some protection built in. BUT, found some interesting Stuff over the weekend with regards to the Super Xevious rom file. If i figure out why TKO/RBI to freedom Force won't work i'll be sure to post. i can still add the following to the conversions list: I can't figure out why!! I think all the chips are exactly the same except double on the SSK board. And SSK works on both RBI/TKO boards.īad news is, FF only works in the RBI daughtercard for about 3-4 minutes then starts to reset and eventually goes to a white screen. Also, TKO/RBI both work on the SSK daughter board. Super Sky Kid works great on the upper side too. Keep on mind, it needs to be on the lower (6/8) side. It ran for about 30 minutes, cycles through the attract mode and would let me coin up and start a game. Good news is that Super Sky Kid board runs Freedom Force perfectly, in fact i think its the same board because the manual actually shows the double wide daughter board. I traded someone on here for an RBI and Super Sky Kid daughter boards.
